Let's get started on why June is one of the most beautiful times of year for flower availability!
P E O N Y
Let’s start off with one of the most asked-for flowers of all time: the Peony. These beautifully full, romantic blooms are typically in season from May through to June, sometimes stretching into early July. Their availability is quite dependent on the weather, so if you have your heart set on Peonies for your wedding flowers, it’s worth planning your date for late May or early June to give yourself the best chance of securing them at the best quality and a reasonable cost.
Peonies offer an incredible colour palette, ranging from crisp whites and soft creams to buttery yellows, delicate blush tones, warm pinks, and richer shades like cerise and deep burgundy. And then there’s coral—truly one of their standout hues. It’s a distinctive, vibrant shade that feels completely unique to Peonies.
With their large, soft, ruffled heads, Peonies are perfect for creating impact in bigger floral designs such as arches or statement urn arrangements. In bridal bouquets, I usually use them more sparingly—just a few stems, depending on their size—paired with other seasonal summer flowers to add depth and texture. For an early summer wedding, peonies are easily among the most beautiful and luxurious choices you can make.
You’ll find lots of beautiful images here of floristry that incorporates Peonies.
