VALENTINES IN BATHFlowers of Bath
Yes… it’s that time of year again! Valentines is fast approaching and we have just launched our Valentines flowers collection for 2023!
Valentines is a little like Marmite.. some love it and head downstairs on the day to find a beautiful bunch of flowers, chocolates & a card and others hate it and won’t mention or celebrate it! Though let’s face it, it’s the perfect time to spoil your loved one and make them feel spoilt & adored!!
This year, we are focusing on seasonal blooms instead of the traditional Red Roses.. For many reasons! Firstly, the cost of Red Roses over the Valentines period is eye watering. The growers have to keep up with the demand and therefore the cost increases. Brexit has hit growers/importers hard and new costs have come in to place that the wholesalers now have to account for..
The C word… It hit everyone seriously hard and lasted for FAR too long causing devastating impact on many larger & smaller businesses. Growers being one of them who were hit in a bad way.
NOW, just to top it off, the cost of electric has increased for so many and our growers are having to fork out on high electric bills which are used to ensure the perfect growth of flowers so all in all.. it’s an expensive time for everyone but seasonal flowers are DEFINITELY the way forward.
February is the most beautiful time of year for flowers, all of the Spring flowers are coming through. Hyacinths, Anemones, Ranunculus, Tulips etc.. the list goes on! SO much scent, so much colour and the quality is a lot higher as it’s the peak time of year for them, therefore, they last a lot longer.
Interestingly, we put out a poll on a socials recently to do a little digging as to whether our followers would prefer to receive the traditional red rose bouquet on Valentine’s or if they’d prefer a beautiful seasonal bouquet.
I had presumed that the outcome would be that the majority of people would prefer seasonal flowers to the classic but not quite anticipating that 80% of our followers would agree!!! 20% decided that the traditional Roses were preferred but that’s a very small proportion to what I was expecting!
SO… We’ve put together our Valentine’s Collection for 2023 and have of course, still included the classics but we have focused heavily on more of the seasonal designs! The Red Roses that we will be using for Valentines will be the best of the best! Beautiful long stemmed Naomi Red Roses which have the sweetest scent and a large head.
